Softball Game Preview: Pecatonica Indians vs. Orangeville Broncos

Pecatonica hasn't had much luck against Orangeville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Pecatonica will host Orangeville at 4:30 p.m. Pecatonica has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pecatonica is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They lost 12-2 to Galena.

Pecatonica saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madey Diedrich, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Orangeville). Everything went their way against Lutheran on Monday as Orangeville made off with a 23-6 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Broncos with their most commanding win of the season.

Orangeville pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Pecatonica, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Pecatonica might still be hurting after the 16-9 loss they got from Orangeville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Pecatonica avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
