Softball Recap: Providence Extends Home Winning Streak to 13

Providence got themselves on the board against Garinger on Tuesday, but Garinger never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 15-0 win. Considering the Panthers have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mattingly Amisano made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

In other pitching news, Averie Jones looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Emelia Zeng, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Olivier-Misle, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Providence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in three consecutive games.

Providence's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Garinger, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Providence will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair will be back at it again later today.
