Basketball Recap: Joe Cheever's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lexington over Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lexington can now relate to. They fell 51-42 to the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons on Friday. The Minutemen were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 56-42.

Lexington's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joe Cheever, who posted eight points and seven boards. Cheever is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 16 games he's played. Bo Stutzman was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Lexington moved to 26-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-12.

As of now, neither Lexington nor Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley have any future games scheduled.
