Baseball Recap: Hilliard Darby Panthers vs. Dublin Coffman Shamrocks
Hilliard Darby gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They came out on top against the Dublin Coffman Shamrocks by a score of 6-1. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 5-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Caleb Boff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kade Romine was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Bowzer, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Looking ahead, Hilliard Darby is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Bowling Green at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Bowling Green will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Hilliard Darby surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dublin Coffman, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Marysville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
