Baseball Game Preview: Chaminade Flyers vs. Monsignor McClancy Crusaders

Chaminade has gone a perfect 4-0 against Monsignor McClancy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Flyers are taking a road trip to face off against the Crusaders at 11:00 a.m. Chaminade will be strutting in after a victory while Monsignor McClancy will be coming in after a defeat.

Chaminade came out on top against Xaverian on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Flyers never let the Clippers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Flyers have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Collin Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Chaminade: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 10-12 otherwise. Danny Nawrocki also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Chaminade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Xaverian only posted an OBP of .200.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Monsignor McClancy's offense. They lost 6-0 to St. Anthony's on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Crusaders in their meetings with the Friars: they've now lost five in a row.

Chaminade's victory bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Monsignor McClancy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Everything went Chaminade's way against Monsignor McClancy in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Chaminade made off with a 6-0 win. Will the Flyers repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
