Baseball Recap: Saddleback Victorious

Saddleback won against Santa Ana Valley last Tuesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Saddleback walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Magnolia Sentinels. With that win, the Roadrunners brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Diego Enriquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Saddleback is 4-1-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Saddleback let Anthony Lopez and Ricardo Marquez run wild. Lopez went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Marquez scored a run while going 3-for-4. That triple marked the first that Lopez hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joaquin Cornejo, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Saddleback kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.

Saddleback's victory bumped their record up to 7-5-1. As for Magnolia, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-5.

Coming up, Saddleback will take on Bolsa Grande at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Saddleback's pitchers better be ready for this one: Bolsa Grande has averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Magnolia, they will face off against Santiago at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Magnolia is facing Santiago at the right time seeing as Santiago is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
