Softball Recap: Lake City Timberwolves vs. Pocatello Thunder
Lake City came into this matchup off a tough 15-run defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Pocatello Thunder by a score of 7-5 on Saturday. The Timberwolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunder apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2016.
Madeline Peterson put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Layla Gugino was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Alexandria Routon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

As for Pocatello, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
