Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Cave Spring's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Cave Spring won against Patrick Henry on Tuesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Knights beat the Christiansburg Blue Demons by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Blue Demons back in April, they had to take a 11-10 loss.

Caitlyn Karnes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Karnes was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail Bradberry, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Rachel Hartman was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Cave Spring kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.

Cave Spring has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Christiansburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cave Spring will host Lord Botetourt at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Christiansburg, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Salem at 7:00 p.m.
