Gretna is 2-8 against Dan River since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Hawks will welcome the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m.
Gretna came up short against William Campbell on Friday, falling 9-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hawks have suffered against the Generals since March 27, 2023.
Gretna saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hope Hendricks, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Makayla Morris also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Dan River got the win against Nelson County on Friday by a conclusive 18-1. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Taylor Pritchett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pritchett was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Dan River got a massive performance out of Kenley Cundiff, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Cundiff has posted since back in April of 2025. Riley Hughes was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Dan River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Gretna's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Dan River, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
