Baseball Recap: Kingston Takes a Loss

Kingston extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-9 in the process. They came up short against the North Kitsap Vikings, falling 9-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 on Tuesday.

As for North Kitsap, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.

For North Kitsap's part, Tate Stearns made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Stearns has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nolan Rowe, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Greysen Prichard was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Kingston has already played their next game, a 6-2 loss against Olympic on the 29th. As for North Kitsap, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 12-6 defeat against Mount Si on the 25th.
