Basketball Game Preview: Lucy Beckham Bengals vs. Stratford Knights

The Lucy Beckham Bengals will square off against the Stratford Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Saturday, Lucy Beckham ended up a good deal behind Wando and lost 48-34. While losing is never fun, the Bengals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Warriors are ranked 14th).

The losing side was boosted by Charlotte Newkirk, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. What's more, she also racked up five steals, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Vivian Watts, who posted eight points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Stratford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Wando, falling 61-41.

Stratford's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Lucy Beckham, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9.

Lucy Beckham came out on top in a nail-biter against Stratford in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 55-53. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Stratford's Ciara Mustapher, who put up 22 points and three steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Lucy Beckham still be able to contain Mustapher? There's only one way to find out.
