Basketball Game Preview: Patton Panthers vs. Hendersonville Bearcats

Patton hasn't had much luck against Hendersonville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Patton Panthers will jump right back in to play the Hendersonville Bearcats at 8:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Patton took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 60-52 victory over East Rutherford.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Hendersonville's strategy against Patton on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Hendersonville blew Patton out of the water with an 89-46 final score. The Bearcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.

Hendersonville's win came from a few key players Patton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Caden Thomas, who went 8-for-11 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three). Jordan Wynn was another key player, going 7-for-12 en route to 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

Hendersonville was working as a unit and finished the game with 28 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Hendersonville's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points over those games. As for Patton, their victory bumped their record up to 10-15.

Patton took a serious blow against Hendersonville when the teams last played on Friday, falling 89-46. Can Patton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
