League recap: Exeter stuns Dinuba in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Exeter, who took down 214th ranked Dinuba, 35-21.

Adding to the longest winning streak in Central Sequoia this week, Kingsburg beat Selma 33-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Brandon Steele threw for 158 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 14-28 with 1 interception.

Jeremiah Tiemersma was a key player and the best on defense this week as Central Valley Christian bested Immanuel. The 6-foot-4 senior grabbed 2 sacks.

Steele and Seth Brooks gave Kingsburg a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Josh Sierra also contributed to the rushing game with 45 yards on the ground.

On the heels of Marcus McMaryion and Michael Wright, the Emperors have had great success on offense. McMaryion leads the league in passing with 2,026 yards, while Wright has rushed for 1,583 yards this season. The Monarchs' Alex Cortez leads the league in receiving yards with 549 on 29 catches.

So far this year, Steele has thrown for 1,855 yards with 16 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.

Exeter scaled the state rankings by moving to 308 from 353 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Ben White's team was able to move up by besting Dinuba 35-21.
