Softball Recap: First Colonial Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

First Colonial won the last time they faced Landstown and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Patriots were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Eagles. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Cori Evans made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucy Domozick, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aimee Ord, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

First Colonial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

First Colonial pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Landstown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

First Colonial wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-2 win against Green Run on the 10th. As for Landstown, they have also already played their next matchup, a 6-0 defeat against Ocean Lakes on the 10th.
