Baseball Recap: Rye Cove Takes a Loss

Rye Cove dropped their record down to 5-2 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Castlewood Blue Devils, falling 11-1. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for Castlewood, the win got them back to even at 6-6. Considering they have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Castlewood's part, Jake Bush was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Bush has posted since back in March. Jayden Clark was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Looking ahead, Rye Cove will challenge Council at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are facing the Cobras at the right time seeing as the Cobras are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Castlewood, they will take on Jenkins at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cavaliers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.79 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
