Basketball Preview: West Clermont Wolves vs. Ursuline Academy Lions
The West Clermont Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Ursuline Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, everything went West Clermont's way against the Eagles as the Wolves made off with a 59-39 victory.
Layla Hale continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Rodriguez, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Ursuline Academy had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victor by a 44-22 margin over Clermont Northeastern. That 22 point margin sets a new team best for Ursuline Academy this season.
West Clermont pushed their record up to 16-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Ursuline Academy, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15.
West Clermont beat the Lions 48-36 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Clermont since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
