Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kopperl). They secured a 60-54 W over the Evant Elks on Friday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Elks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Despite the loss, Evant saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Edgar Dominguez rushed for 152 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.

Kopperl's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Evant, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Kopperl and Evant will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Eagles see the field they'll take on Cranfills Gap at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. As for Evant, their break will end when they face Buckholts at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
