Baseball Recap: East Bay Triumphs

After only one run in their last contest, East Bay made sure to put some runs up on the board against Blake on Saturday. Everything went the East Bay Indians' way against the Blake Yellow Jackets as the East Bay Indians made off with a 17-7 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Indians' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Cameron Cook made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one run.

In other pitching news, John Viane looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Gavigan, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that he's launched this season. Jeffrey Diab was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

East Bay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blake only posted an OBP of .250.

East Bay's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Blake, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Bay will host Lennard at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Blake, they will welcome Leto at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
