Hobart takes loss despite strong efforts from Cailey Weber and Riley Weber

Recap: Hobart Brickies vs. Washington Township Senators

The Hobart Brickies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Washington Township. Hobart lost against Washington Township in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 73-65 score last time.

Despite the loss, Hobart had strong showings from Riley Weber, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Cailey Weber, who scored five points along with three steals. Weber scored a full 33.3% of Hobart's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Hallie Pendleton, who scored six points along with six rebounds.

Washington Township got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gracie Little out in front who scored 17 points along with four steals. The contest was Little's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Clair Klinger was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Hobart has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Washington Township, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.

Hobart is on the road again on Friday and play against Mishawaka Marian at 11:45 a.m. on December 29th. Washington Township won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Kankakee Valley at 11:45 a.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Kankakee Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
