Softball Recap: Mount Union's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Mount Union lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Glendale, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. The Trojans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 6-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ke' Andra Wible made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Payton Williams was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kaylynn Wharton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Mount Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

With the victory, Mount Union broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6. As for Glendale, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Union will square off against Claysburg-Kimmel at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Glendale, they will take on Blacklick Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
