Basketball Game Preview: Mount Calvary Christian Chargers vs. Lititz Christian Eagles

Mount Calvary Christian is 3-0 against Lititz Christian since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Mount Calvary Christian Chargers will square off against the Lititz Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Mount Calvary Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Lititz Christian likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Mount Calvary Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 76-72 to Millersburg. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (58), the Chargers still had to take the loss.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Josiah Masters, who posted 20 points. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was JJ Cuneo, who put up 13 points.

Meanwhile, Lititz Christian didn't have quite enough to beat New Covenant Christian on Tuesday and fell 40-38. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Lititz Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jack Kriebel almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. That was a full 47.4% of Lititz Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Caeden Harmon was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Mount Calvary Christian's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2. As for Lititz Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Mount Calvary Christian beat Lititz Christian 62-51 when the teams last played back in February of 2020. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mount Calvary Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
