Baseball Game Preview: Calexico Bulldogs vs. Southwest EC Eagles

For the second straight game, Calexico will face off against Southwest EC. The Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Calexico 3.2, Southwest EC 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Calexico is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Southwest EC just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.

Antonio Gonzalez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Calexico saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Randy Baez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Luis Beltran was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory was the ninth in a row for Southwest EC, bringing their record up to 22-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Calexico, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-4-1.
