The Central Valley Hawks will square off against the Livingston Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Central Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
Central Valley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Beyer just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 9-3.
Central Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reylena Herrera, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Livingston got themselves on the board against Grace Davis on Friday, but Grace Davis never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Spartans. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by ten runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Mariah Blaine's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Livingston got a big performance out of Elizabeth Avila, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Marisol Salgado, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Livingston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Livingston's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Central Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Central Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Livingston struggles in that department as they've averaged .450. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
