Softball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short

Eastern had lost 11 straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 2-17 to make it 12. They lost 15-1 to the South Central Rebels. The Musketeers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for South Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

For South Central's part, Kaylee Chanley was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Chanley has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Breanna Hess, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Eastern wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-3 win against Crawford County on the 28th. As for South Central, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against West Washington on the 28th.
