Soccer Game Preview: Dr. Phillips vs. Cypress Creek

The Dr. Phillips Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Cypress Creek Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dr. Phillips is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Dr. Phillips challenged Winter Park on Tuesday. Dr. Phillips lost 8-0 to Winter Park. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 360th, while the Wildcats are ranked 49th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cypress Creek). They never let Liberty onto the board and left with an 11-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won eight matchups by four goals or more so far this season.

Cypress Creek's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three contests. As for Dr. Phillips, they now have a losing record at 4-5-1.

Dr. Phillips came up short against Cypress Creek in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Dr. Phillips avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
