Softball Recap: Yelm Tornados vs. Timberline Blazers
After a string of five wins, Yelm's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 6-2 to the Timberline Blazers. Yelm was red-hot at the plate headed into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the five games prior) but Timberline's pitchers proved too tough.
Madisyn Erickson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Elissa Dewees, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run.
On Timberline's side, Jasmyn Polanco was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Polanco has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings every time she's pitched this season. Polanco was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Timberline let Kayleese Dorfner and Lina McDaniel loose on the outfield. Dorfner scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while McDaniel scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Yelm's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3. As for Timberline, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
