Football Recap: Palmetto Drops Highest Score of Season Against Christ Church Episcopal

Palmetto extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-9. They fell 41-31 to the Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers. On the bright side, the 31- point performance marked the Mustangs' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Kaleb Ricketts and Preston Wilder certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Ricketts rushed for 189 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, while Wilder gained 144 total yards and two touchdowns.

As for Christ Church Episcopal, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Christ Church Episcopal found their leader in sophomore Michael Martin II, who rushed for 163 yards and four scores. Martin II is becoming a predictor of the Cavaliers' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 6-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Jude Hall also helped out with an impressive 110 receiving yards.

Coming up, Palmetto will venture away from home to challenge Belton-Honea Path at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Bears have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Christ Church Episcopal, they will host Walhalla at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers will be up against the Razorbacks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 45.3 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
