Baseball Game Preview: Tipton Blue Devils vs. Frankton Eagles

Tipton is 0-7 against Frankton since April of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Blue Devils will face off against the Eagles at 5:03 p.m. Frankton took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Tipton, who comes in off a win.

Tipton will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Hamilton Heights, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Blue Devils came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Gabe Wiggington looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caleb Hare, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Hawkins, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Frankton came up short against Lapel on Tuesday, falling 10-3. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost six in a row.

Frankton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Peters, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. That hit marked the first that Peters has got this season.

Tipton's record is now 3-7. As for Frankton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Tipton might still be hurting after the 16-5 loss they got from Frankton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
