Carlisle hit Bishop McDevitt with a four-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Crusaders took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bison. The Crusaders' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Easton Comp was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Ryan Sprow also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Palmyra fell to 12-1. As for Bishop McDevitt, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Bishop McDevitt's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Palmyra has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .459. It's a different story for Bishop McDevitt, though, as they've only averaged .355. Will they be able to contain Palmyra's hitters?
Palmyra was able to grind out a solid victory over Bishop McDevitt when the teams last played back in March, winning 9-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
