Softball Recap: Laurens Academy Victorious

The third road match was the charm for Laurens Academy, as they earned their first road win of the season. They put the hurt on the Richard Winn Academy Eagles with a sharp 16-4 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Maddie Loe spent all four innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits.

At the plate, Braylee Burke was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Runyans, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4.

Laurens Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Richard Winn Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laurens Academy will head out to face off against Greenwood Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Richard Winn Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge King Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
