Softball Recap: Oldham County Colonels vs. Bullitt East Chargers
Oldham County faced Bullitt East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Colonels sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Chargers. For the Colonels, this counts as revenge for the 7-3 victory the Chargers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.
Oldham County got a great performance from Kailyn Claybern as she tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Claybern has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Batts, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Sydney Wirth was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
