Basketball Recap: Harvard Takes a Loss

Harvard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 64-28 loss at the hands of the Deshler Dragons. The Cardinals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-9.

When it comes to explaining why Harvard lost, don't look at Ethyn Whetstine-Jones. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 13 en route to 16 points. That was a full 57.1% of Harvard's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Easton Nash was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points and four steals for Deshler. Nash is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braxton Peterson, who went 5 of 6 en route to 11 points and five rebounds.

Harvard's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Deshler, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.

Harvard has already played their next matchup (against Elba), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Deshler will host Superior at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Deshler is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season.
