Basketball Recap: Isaiah Keep's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy over Appalachian Christian School

After flying high against Grace Christian last Tuesday, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys fell 50-41 to the Appalachian Christian School Trailblazers on Friday.

Several Ospreys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Keep, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Keep a new career-high in boards. Robert Roberson was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Appalachian Christian School got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jonathan Vazquez out in front who went 7-for-15 to rack up 19 points. Another player making a difference was Blake Waldron, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Appalachian Christian School, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-34 loss against Regents on the 22nd. As for Appalachian Christian School, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-50 defeat against Roanoke Valley Christian on the 22nd.
