Softball Recap: Harnett Central Extends Winning Streak to Four

Harnett Central came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls with a sharp 17-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-1 last Tuesday.

Molly Champion made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Champion was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Haleigh Moss was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lauren Faulkner, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Harnett Central's record is now 11-4. As for E.E. Smith, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harnett Central will challenge Triton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for E.E. Smith, they will square off against Terry Sanford at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Bulls are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
