Basketball Game Preview: Gaithersburg Trojans vs. Poolesville Falcons

The Gaithersburg Trojans will square off against the Poolesville Falcons on Tuesday. Gaithersburg is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Gaithersburg is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Whitman on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Gaithersburg took a blow against Whitman, falling 80-40. The game marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Poolesville hadn't done well against Churchill recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Poolesville walked away with a 57-44 win over Churchill.

Gaithersburg's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Poolesville, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.

Gaithersburg came up short against Poolesville when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 49-37. Can Gaithersburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
