Basketball Recap: Mia Baskerville's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Desert Oasis over Faith Lutheran

Desert Oasis lost against Faith Lutheran back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Desert Oasis Diamondbacks fell to the Faith Lutheran Crusaders 42-37. The Diamondbacks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Desert Oasis' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Baskerville, who posted 13 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Upham, who earned six points and ten boards.

Faith Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emma Herpin, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Herpin is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Caylyn Young was another key player, putting up 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

Desert Oasis' loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Faith Lutheran, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Desert Oasis wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-29 victory against Pahrump Valley on the 14th. Faith Lutheran has also already played their next contest, a 69-25 defeat against Centennial on the 16th.
