Basketball Game Preview: Bowie Bears vs. Austin Panthers

Bowie and Austin are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Bowie Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Austin Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Austin took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bowie, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Bowie earned a 51-41 victory over Irvin. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Meanwhile, Austin ended up a good deal behind Harmony Science Academy on Tuesday and lost 67-52.

Bowie's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-12. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Austin, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-10.

Bowie strolled past Austin when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 58-43. Will Bowie repeat their success, or does Austin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
