Basketball Recap: Covenant Day Extends Winning Streak to Four

Covenant Day entered their tilt with Lab University Prep National on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 57-46 win over the Lab University Prep National Kings. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Kings are ranked 19th).

Covenant Day's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Charlotte Hall led the charge by putting up 12 points along with seven boards and three steals. Hall is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Kaitlyn Allen was another key player, posting ten points and eight rebounds.

Covenant Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matchups.

Lab University Prep National's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mia Minshall, who posted 17 points, and Kali Dancy, who had 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Francoeur, who put up seven points.

Covenant Day has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.1 points per game. As for Lab University Prep National, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Covenant Day wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-48 win against Asheville Christian Academy on the 18th. As for Lab University Prep National, they will head out on the road to challenge Legion Collegiate Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Legion Collegiate Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
