Softball Recap: Bishop Conaty-Loretto Sets Scoring Season-High Against Serra

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Conaty-Loretto). They blew past the Serra Cavaliers 26-6 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kaylee Parra and Giselle Garcia were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Parra tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Garcia pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Parra has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Parra scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Garcia went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave Garcia a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bishop Conaty-Loretto got a massive performance out of Heather Salvador, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Salvador a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylah Araujo, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Bishop Conaty-Loretto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .738. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bishop Conaty-Loretto now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Serra, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Bishop Conaty-Loretto will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Camino Nuevo Dalzell Lance Campus at 1:30 p.m. on the 21st. As for Serra, they will face off against Ramona Convent at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
