Basketball Recap: Ivan Shen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cupertino over Lynbrook

Cupertino was the 32-25 winner over Lynbrook when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Cupertino Pioneers took a 51-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lynbrook Vikings on Friday.

Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ivan Shen, who went 6-for-8 on his way to 16 points. The dominant performance also gave Shen a new career-high in field goal percentage (75%). Houma Yoshimochi was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Cupertino has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Lynbrook, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.

Cupertino didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-48 loss against Monta Vista on the 12th. As for Lynbrook, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-45 win against MacDonald on the 12th.
