Baseball Game Preview: Concord Academy vs. Landmark Vikings

Concord Academy will head out on the road to square off against the Landmark Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Concord Academy's offense. They fell 4-0 to Beaver Country Day on Wednesday. The contest marked the first time this season in which Concord Academy was not able to get on the board.

Jacob Auspitz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Concord Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tairou Komyerov, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Komyerov is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Lucas Bailey also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Landmark lost 14-5 to Berwick Academy on Wednesday. The Vikings have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Landmark's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Concord Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Concord Academy skirted past Landmark 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for Concord Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
