Baseball Recap: Southwest Covenant Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Southwest Covenant barely beat Wayne the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Gavyn Beshears made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Southwest Covenant is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-5 otherwise. Beshears was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Tate Flanary was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Southwest Covenant is undefeated when Flanary posts two or more runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Evan Beshears was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-7. As for Wayne, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest Covenant will venture away from home to challenge Luther at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wayne, they will head out to take on Ringling at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
