El Rancho and Whittier are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2021, but not for long. The Dons will head out on the road to challenge the Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. El Rancho will be strutting in after a victory while Whittier will be coming in after a defeat.

El Rancho had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Santa Fe on Wednesday. The Dons blew past the Chiefs 3-0. The Dons haven't had any issues with the Chiefs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Whittier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against California, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cardinals have suffered since March 4th.

While Whittier was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into California's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-15, 25-18.

Whittier's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for El Rancho, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3-2.

El Rancho was able to grind out a solid win over Whittier in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 3-1. Will the Dons repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
