Basketball Game Preview: Southwest Roughriders vs. Southern Valley Eagles

Having just played yesterday, the Southwest Roughriders will head out on the road to face off against the Southern Valley Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Friday, Southwest was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-53 to Bertrand. The Roughriders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Southern Valley took a blow against Holdrege on Friday, falling 89-29. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while the Dusters are ranked eighth).

Southern Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Southwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Southwest came up short against Southern Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 52-40. Can Southwest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
