Lemming unveils Class of 2011 top 100 football players
By Staff Report
May 20, 2010, 12:00am
Plant two-way star James Wilder tops Tom Lemming's list of top 100 players in the Class of 2011.
Plant (Tampa, Fla.)
two-way standout
James Wilder
enters the summer as the No. 1 football recruit in the Class of 2011, according to MaxPreps and CBS College Sports recruiting analyst Tom Lemming.
The MaxPreps Top 100 also features a stellar defensive end, two running backs, three offensive linemen and one quarterback, defensive back and linebacker each among the top 10. Lemming released the list today.
Tom Lemming has tabbed James Wilder as the nation's top recruitin the class of 2011.
Wilder, a linebacker and running back, was a dominant force on both sides of the ball for Plant, which captured a 5A state title in 2009.
At 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, Wilder has an outstanding frame to go along with a terrific blend of power and quickness. He was named a
MaxPreps Junior All-American
after recording 19 sacks, six pass deflections and four forced fumbles.
Defense is probably his calling card, but he's talented enough to play on either side of the ball in college.
Second on the list is
Jadeveon Clowney
, who also possesses unique physical gifts. The 6-6, 240-pounder is nearly impossible to block coming off the edge with his quickness and strength. And he's only going to get stronger.
Rounding out the top three is
DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.)
offensive lineman
Cyrus Kouandjio
, the nation's top offensive lineman. Fellow linemen
Brandon Shell
of
Goose Creek (S.C.)
and
La'El Collins
from
Redemptorist (Baton Rouge, La.)
are at No. 6 and No. 7 in a deep year for that position.
Ohio's
Braxton Miller
currently ranks as the nation's top quarterback prospect at No. 8. Other signal-callers among the top 20 are
Christian Lemay
(No. 12) and
Kiehl Frazier
(No. 15).
