Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Topsail's Winning Streak

Topsail was the 6-3 winner over Laney when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buccaneers on Tuesday. The matchup marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

With the defeat, Topsail broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-5. As for Laney, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Topsail will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ashley at 6:30 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Pirates have won three straight at home, while the Screaming Eagle won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Laney, they have already played their next game, a 6-3 victory against Green Hope on the 2nd.
