Volleyball Recap: Cypress Park Takes a Loss

Cypress Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Mayde Creek Rams. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Rams when the teams met back in August of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Leading Mayde Creek to victory were Mailys Petnkeu and Kaleah Lee. Petnkeu had seven digs and three aces, while Lee had five digs and three aces. The dominant performance also gave Petnkeu a new career-high in assists (17). Mikayla Farley also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Cypress Park's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Mayde Creek, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 2-5 record.

Cypress Park will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cypress Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on the 26th. As for Mayde Creek, their road trip will continue as they head out to face Freeman at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday.
