Basketball Recap: Ray Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wellborn over Saks

Wellborn lost against Saks back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wellborn Panthers lost 76-52 to the Saks Wildcats. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wellborn's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ray Williams, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points along with seven boards and six steals. Williams is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Williams, who went 7 of 15 en route to 16 points and five rebounds.

Wellborn's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Saks, they moved to 1-7 with that win, which also ended their nine-game losing streak.

Wellborn will host Ohatchee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Ohatchee's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches. As for Saks, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Saks Wildcats challenge the Faith Christian Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
