Baseball Recap: Hart Victorious

Hart can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pine River Area Bucks, sneaking past 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since May 31, 2025.

Hollis Rockwell made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Hart's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Rockwell was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Halen Boos and Caden VanGelderen did most of the damage at the plate: Boos got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while VanGelderen went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Hart is 4-1 when Boos posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Joseph Osorio, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Hart's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Pine River Area, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bucks beat Hart by a score of 4-1 later that day.
