Minto has gone 8-2 against Fort Yukon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Minto Lakers will challenge the Fort Yukon Eagles at 11:30 a.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Minto will bounce into Friday's match after beating Walter Northway, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Minto had just enough and edged Walter Northway out 44-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lakers have posted since December 29, 2023.

Minto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tayla Baker led the charge by putting up 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jena Smith, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Fort Yukon beat Lumen Christi 41-36 two weeks ago. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Minto better focus on containing Jane Ward and Kylee Carroll as the pair were huge in Fort Yukon's win. Ward put up 17 points, while Carroll had 16 points. That's the most points Ward has posted since back in February of 2024.

Fort Yukon's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Minto, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Minto was taken down by Fort Yukon 73-46 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Minto avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
